Mission Winnow Returns to Ferrari Following Brief Absence Since the Start of 2022

Ferrari shocked everyone when they launched the 2022 challenger F1-75. As it didn’t have the Mission Winnow branding, which is a part of the Italian F1 team’s major sponsor, PMI. But it seems the Mission Winnow branding will soon return to the cars this season.

The Maranello-based team shares an old relationship with the tobacco company Phillip Moris International (PMI). The Swiss-American company has been the main sponsor for Ferrari for over decades. F1 fans still remember the Marlboro branding on the Italian cars during Michael Schumacher’s era.

However, F1 teams can no longer have tobacco branding in their car. So, the Italian F1 giants and the PMI came up with Mission Winnow, which was featured on the car. But the team has received criticism for it as many saw it to get tobacco advertising back into the sport.

However, the massive shock came when team principal Mattia Binotto announced Ferrari will drop Mission Winnow from the team at the end of 2021. As a result, the 2022 car didn’t carry the Mission Winnow branding. So, fans speculated it might not appear any longer and that Ferrari might lose its ties with PMI.

However, PMI and Ferrari recently signed a new contract. Although anything isn’t officially announced and Mission Winnow appears on their site under the sponsor section. However, they might not be Ferrari’s title sponsors like before.

Ferrari team principal hints at significant upgrades

The Maranello base is dominating this season with their performance. They have been impressive since the pre-season testing. Further, the Ferrari duo has bagged 2 podiums in 2 races. Undoubtedly, the Ferrari F1-75 is a powerful car and a favorite to dominate the 2022 season.

However, there are slight struggles with the car’s aerodynamics. So the team is working on those improvements. However, the team principal Mattia Binotto revealed, “It’s not just a matter of when we will be ready but a matter of budget caps, making sure we are not spending all we have got in the first races. We are not expecting significant upgrades for the next race in Melbourne, but as soon as we can bring something, we will do it.”
